Plan Your Flight

Garmin Pilot provides access to comprehensive radar and satellite imagery for the U.S., Western Europe, Australia, and Canada as well as worldwide availability of METARs, TAFs, AIRMETs, SIGMETs and winds aloft information. Additionally, visible and infrared cloud imagery, PIREPs, NOTAMs, temperatures aloft, TFRs and lightning are available in the U.S.

View animated radar, check upper-level winds and current METARs. Overlay a variety of weather options on the map to see how cloud cover or precipitation will affect your flight. The exclusive NavTrack feature lets you preview how changing weather conditions might alter your flight. And for in the U.S., the app also provides fuel prices along your route to help you plan the most economical flight. World Wide Weather

The app provides ATC preferred routes in the U.S. that can help ensure the route you submit is accepted as-is. Preferred routes are a summary of routes that have been cleared by the FAA to other aircraft flying the same departure/destination pair. By using a preferred route, you can minimize the likelihood of last-minute or enroute changes.

File Your Flight Plan

Start by entering your desired route to view it on the interactive map. Simply start spelling a waypoint and let our FastFind, make suggestions using your current location to help speed up waypoint entry. From there, easily overlay weather, pan across the entire route, pinch to zoom for detail, or graphically modify any leg of your flight. And the FAA’s DUAT(S) weather briefing serves as a legal source of weather briefing. Built-in calculators estimate fuel burn, enroute legs and arrival times for your flight. Use preloaded forms to save and reuse clearance data for frequently flown flight plans.

When you’re ready, easily file, amend and close the flight plan you create directly from your device via DTC DUAT or CSC DUATS. Garmin Pilot allows you to save your pilot, aircraft and flight plan information to the cloud, so you don’t have to re-enter information every time you transfer devices. Just log in to your Garmin Pilot account to access your pilot profile either on the device of choice or flyGarmin.

File with Precision

Using your device’s built-in GPS receiver or optional GDL 39 or GLO for Aviation, Garmin Pilot provides full enroute navigation on the rich, interactive moving map. Our patented Panel Page provides situational awareness, including a graphical HSI directional display and indicators for groundspeed, altitude, rate of turn and vertical speed. With the addition of the GDL 39 3D, the HSI page adds an attitude indicator.

A unique Radial Menu provides easy onscreen access to create a user waypoint or navigate Direct-To, as well as view current weather conditions and airport/navaid information at a glance. The app also automatically keeps track of your ETE, ETA, crosstrack error, distance to waypoint, current position and much more.

Our Smart Airspace™ feature makes it easier than ever to identify what airspace lies ahead. Smart Airspace automatically highlights airspace close to your current altitude and de-emphasizes airspace away from the current altitude, providing you with increased situational awareness.

With an optional GDL 39 receiver, you can receive subscription-free weather and datalink traffic while in flying in the U.S. SiriusXM™ Satellite Weather is also available with an optional third-party receiver. The GDL 39 provides exclusive TargetTrend™ relative motion providing an easy-to-interpret picture of aircraft trajectories. It also provides SURF technology which displays ADS-B-equipped surface aircraft and other ground vehicles right on the optional Garmin SafeTaxi® diagrams.

Add Attitude and Fly in Virtual 3-D

The GDL 39 3D provides the same ADS-B traffic and weather, but also adds backup attitude indication that enables SVX™ synthetic vision view. SVX displays a virtual landscape of what lies ahead – complete with terrain, obstacles, runways, traffic and more. You can also use split-screen mode to simultaneously view your current attitude indication alongside ADS-B weather, datalink traffic or other flight information.

Go Paperless

With Garmin Pilot, declutter your cabin and cut down on the amount of paper you need for navigation. A wealth of electronic flight bag capabilities allow you to view paper charts and approach plates right on your device. Dynamic navigation maps allow you to filter charts by manually turning on or off different airspaces, airports and other features, as well as track up to your current aircraft heading. Split screen capability allows the pilot to simultaneously view the moving map and choose between another view like traffic or charts.

Go Global

Garmin Pilot is optionally available around the globe with our powerful and rich, interactive mapping powered by Jeppesen. This information includes visual reporting points otherwise known as VRPs. There are a growing number of optional charting solutions that include U.S. and European IFR/VFR charts as well as our FliteCharts and SafeTaxi diagrams for the U.S., Canada and Europe. Even more, European FliteCharts contain some VFR terminal procedures published by EuroControl.

Garmin PilotSafeTaxi diagrams are integrated right into these maps and load seamlessly on approach or as you zoom into an airport. The app also comes with IFR enroute and VFR sectional charts you can select as your basemap, as well as Garmin FliteCharts®. The standard FliteCharts can be upgraded within the app with geo-referencing capability for dynamic graphical nav guidance from startup to shutdown.

Garmin Pilot allows you to quickly and easily annotate approach plates so you can highlight approach minimums, runways, or jot down notes like frequency assignments and squawk codes. Split screen capability allows the pilot to simultaneously view the moving map and choose between another view like traffic or charts.

A terrain and obstacle database provides high-resolution contour mapping to show your aircraft’s proximity to potentially hazardous terrain or obstacles like towers, as well as provide visual cautions and warnings as you near these obstructions.
